I\’ve ran across multiple CUCM clusters where recent admins made a translation pattern for everything. When you turn up remote sites it can be very frustrating and time consuming to add a range of DIDs if you add them one by one. Here\’s a quick how-to guide on bulk adding these translation patterns in CUCM. This can also be used to edit a range of translation patterns.
*Note I am using a lab environment with fake telephone numbers
- In CUCM go to Bulk Administration > Import/Export > Export and tick the box next to translation pattern. Click the bubble Run Immediately and Submit.
- Go to Bulk Administration > Upload/Download Files > tick the box next to your filename > Download Selected
- Uncompress and open the CSV file in Excel. Remove all entries except for as many lines as you need. Like 20 lines for 20 DIDs. This is just to keep the proper formatting to match the rest of your patterns. My existing two patterns: Translation patterns on CSV:
- Edit the needed cells (in many cases I edit Column A, C, and R)
- Click save – yes. Close Excel and don’t save
- Compress the same files including the translationpattern.csv and header.txt into a TAR file.
- On CUCM go to Bulk Administration > Upload/Download Files. Add new and select the TAR file from your PC.
- On CUCM go to Bulk Administration > Import/Export > Import
- In the dropdown click the proper file and click next.
- My translation patterns now look like this:
